Dudley Leavitt (1772-1851) was a New Hampshire educator, newspaper editor, and polymath, who was the publisher of the Leavitt's Farmers Almanack -- one of America's earliest almanacs. Levitt's papers reside in the NH State Library. The documents represented in KSCommons were selected for use in the NH Citizen Archivists' Initiative.
A roller coaster's change in acceleration is caused by a change in direction. While on a roller coaster we slide or elevate in our seats. Our body absorbs the energy that has no place to go, so we continue on that energy's path. In dance, the energy our body creates is difficult to stop or slow down. We feel the energy flowing through us and how it changes when we change direction. The over curves and the under curves our bodies make have the same kinetic energy as the cork screws and loops in a roller coaster. 'Zoomie' focuses on the feeling of being lost and unsure of what is happening. Five dancers are fighting the energy to find a normal place. It finally finds that moment of suspension, thinking that this is what it's supposed to be, then gets pulled back into the roller coaster.
