The Effect of Conducting Gesture on Produced Choral Sound
Item
- Description
- en_US This presentation was given at the 2018 Academic Excellence Conference.
- en_US The gestural movements a conductor chooses directly affects the way singers respond in an ensemble setting. Aspects of music that will be defined and modeled in this performance lecture include dynamics, breath flow, articulation, and expressive phrasing. The conductor will show different gestures to convey the composer’s intent in Earth Song by Frank Ticheli. The KSC Chamber Singers will sing in response to these gestures to demonstrate various musical interpretations of the piece. The presentation will conclude with a complete performance followed by a brief question and answer session.
