The Magic of Monadnock Colloquium: Poetry Bridging Continents, October 9-12, 2017

From October 9 to 12, 2017, Keene State College hosted The Magic of Monadnock: Poetry Bridging Continents, an international colloquium that brought five pastoral poets from the People's Republic of China, members of the Monadnock Pastoral Poets, and other guest speakers to the college. The colloquium examined how geography and the word "pastoral" defines and redefines geographical landmarks, like Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire or Mt. Maoshan in China, as potent, sacred forces for humanity. The week-long colloquium was filled with poetry, performances, field trips, lectures and discussions that delve into the concepts of what makes a space sacred. The Wallace E. Mason Library was the primary sponsor and host of the colloquium.
