Working knowledge of media law, ethics, and related First Amendment issues. Proficiency with tools of mass media such as traditional and electronic newsgathering equipment, and news production software. A working knowledge of newsgathering research methods and tools. An ability to analyze the relationship between mass media and society from historical and contemporary perspectives. RATIONALE: Equinox editors fulfill four of the five outcomes for our program and need to be more visible in our curriculum. By having the editor class in the last category, students cannot get credit for both their work as staff and their work as editors. RESOURCES: No additional resources needed. ADVISORY OPINIONS:
