MEMO TO: Becky Dunn, Chair, Senate Curriculum Committee Jack Sears, Catalog Editor FR: Education Department, Dottie Bauer Co-chair DT: December 1, 2007 RE: Addendum to prefix changes The Education Department has recently changed all graduate course prefixes to begin with the letters EDUC, replacing the previous ESEC. We are attaching the following catalog edits that need to be made, based on this prefix change. They were omitted from the package submitted by the department. Prerequisite: Completion of or current enrollment in required ESECEL courses or permission of instructor. Fall, Spring. EDITED PREREQUISITE TO INCLUDE PREFIX CHANGE: ESECEL 697 PRINCIPAL INTERNSHIP A supervised practical experience in educational leadership with seminar sessions addressing six national standards for educational leaders. This internship is to include participation in two levels of schooling: elementary, middle, or high school. Program requires the course be repeated for a total of six credits. Prerequisite: Admission to School Counselor graduate program and ESECEL 651. ESECSC 662 SCHOOL COUNSELING: THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS An exploration of major theoretical approaches to school counseling. Emphasis is on the formulation of perspectives on emotional growth and development, as well as the helping relationship. Includes case studies that illustrate strategies for intervention from an ecological perspective. Prerequisites: ESECSC 622, ESECSC 626, and ESECSC 651. Spring.
