March 25, 2009 To: Senate Curriculum Committee From: Professional and Graduate Studies School Curriculum Committee The Professional and Graduate Studies School Curriculum Committee gathered the advisory opinions from each of the departments within the school (EDUC, HLSC, PE, and TDS). After reviewing what has been submitted, we offer the following: The committee and the departments we represent support the concept of a College Honors program at Keene State College and commend the Honors Program committee for their revisions to the proposal that specifically addressed earlier concerns. Some departments actually took votes, although only advisory opinions were requested. Those votes showed clear support for the proposal, although not unanimously. The two concerns that continued to be expressed are resources (especially those related to faculty) and the discrepancy between ISP Perspectives requirements for students in the Honors program and other students at KSC. Based on the information we have received, the Professional and Graduate Studies School Curriculum Committee supports the Honor Program proposal (4-0-0-0) and asks that the Senate Curriculum Committee make sure the concerns listed above are addressed to their satisfaction. Thank you.
