Complete operas are also studied: composers, plots, and characters. Spring. PROPOSED COURSE NUMBER and/or TITLE: MU 270 OPERA WORKSHOPı1 credit PROPOSED COURSE DESCRIPTION: Opera excerpts are studied and performed. Complete operas are also studied: composers, plots, and characters. May be repeated for credit. Spring. LEARNING OUTCOMES: . From the syllabus of Professor Carroll Lehman: Students will learn and memorize the assigned operatic selections to be performed at a public performance. Students will develop characterizations, learn blocking, and become more confident onstage. For the preparation to perform their scenes, students will research and write about the plot and characters of the full opera and how their character and scene fit in. RATIONALE: This change is 'housekeeping' in the sense that it reflects current practice in the Department. Like any workshop or ensemble, students should be able to repeat Opera Workshop for credit in order for them to develop skills and knowledge throughout the academic career.
