Abstract

TRANSITION PLAN FROM 3-CREDIT TO 4-CREDIT UNDERGRADUATE ELEMENTARY AND SPECIAL EDUCATION OPTION The transition plan suggests the new 4 credit model program for the Special Education Option will be fully implemented in Spring 2010. This plan takes into account how the Education Department is phasing out ESEC courses and phasing in EDUC four credit courses. Advising documents outline when and how current students will complete either the current program, a blended program, or the new program. Because of competencies required by our state and national accrediting bodies, we must maintain some of the 3 credit model courses until current juniors graduate. We have redesigned the entire curriculum; therefore it is not possible to switch students over next year. The transition for moving to the four credit model is dependent on the Education Department’s schedule of implementation as preparation courses focusing on typical classrooms and students are prerequisite for course work in the Elementary and Special Education option.
