May be repeated once for credit as topics change. Prerequisite: ITW 101: Thinking and Writing or its equivalent. Annually Course Learning Outcomes • Students will demonstrate their ability to analyze cultural texts in a challenging intellectual environment • Students will demonstrate their ability to integrate forms of scholarship from more than one discipline to understand and interpret American culture • Students will demonstrate their ability to write a clear, complex, and engaging documented essay in standard MLA or other discipline-specific format Integrative Studies Outcomes Interdisciplinary: Students will be able to: • cross disciplinary boundaries to reveal new patterns and connections that reframe knowledge. • analyze the assumptions and actions of society from multiple perspectives. RATIONALE: AMST 250: Interpreting American Cultures is course ideally suited to the interdisciplinary IS course requirement. We are therefore offering AMST 250 as an IS course.
